The excellent concert series "Sundays at Three" and Christ Epsicopal Church in Columbia have kindly offered me the opportunity to give a preview mini-recital of my February 11 recital at Strathmore. At the preview I will play and discuss a few pieces from the February 11 program, take a few Chopin requests, answer questions and share details about my Chopin project at Strathmore, and pass out promotional materials. The preview will last a little over an hour without intermission and is free of admission charge, but we will take up a free-will collection to support the church's ministry and programs. In the second installment of his complete Chopin cycle in partnership with the National Philharmonic at the Music Center at Strathmore, Brian will explore the theme of "Dances and Fantasies." The program will include the great Fantaisie in F minor, Op. 49, the ever popular Fantaisie-Impromptu, and the masterful Polonaise-Fantaisie, one of Chopin's most profound works, but relatively less well-known. He will also play the Impromptu No. 2, several mazurkas, 2 Polonaises Op. 40 (including the beloved A major) and a waltz.
